Festival of lights

The Festival of Lights will be held on Fourth Street in downtown Loveland on Friday, November 22nd from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Celebrate the holiday season with live music and entertainment, a tree lighting ceremony, a holiday market, carriage rides, Santa and more.

Santa will arrive at 5:00 p.m., community performances will take place at 5:20-7:30 p.m., and the tree lighting ceremony will take place at 7:30 p.m.

“Floats on 4th” will be a new addition to this year’s Festival of Lights, extending the celebration two blocks along Fourth Street, from Washington to Lincoln, with stationary floats parked along the streets. Throughout the evening, performers such as bands, dancers and entertainers will move through the crowd, bringing the parade to life.

“Gremlins”

After the lighting of the Loveland Christmas Tree, “Gremlins” will be shown at the Rialto Theater Center, 228 E. Fourth St., on Friday, November 22nd at 8:00 p.m.

The horror-comedy follows a Christmas pet that spirals out of control.

Concert and connections

The third annual United Christmas Concert will follow the downtown lighting ceremony at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at First United Presbyterian Church, 400 E. Fourth St., along with a hookup fair from 7-9 p.m. .

People are invited to attend to celebrate and socialize.

The fair is an opportunity to learn more about other communities in the region and the social connections that exist in the greater Loveland area.

Festive festival

The Applewood Holiday Festival will be held on Saturday, November 23rd from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm and from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 24th at The Ranch, 5280 Arena Circle, Loveland.

VIP admission will be available from 4:30pm to 8:00pm on Friday, November 22 for $23.

Artisans will be featured, offering handmade items, vintage items, upcycled finds, fashion items, craft food creations and more.

Admission is $7 for adults, good for both Saturday and Sunday. Children under 12 are free.

Memory

Transgender Day of Remembrance will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 20 at the First Congregational Church (United Church of Christ), 800 N. Lincoln Ave.

First Congregational will partner with the Unitarian Congregation of Namaqua for interdenominational ministry.

Join Reverend Dana Lightsey, Reverend Thandiu Dale-Ferguso and others to remember those who were killed because of their gender last year and support the trans community with love and care.

Tour de Turkey

To help its school and nonprofit partners provide hearty holiday meals to families in need, the Food Bank of Larimer County is looking for frozen turkeys, hams and chickens for the annual Tour de Turkey drive.

This year, it is planned to harvest 4,200 turkeys.

This year’s Tour de Turkey will take place from 6am to 6pm on Thursday 21 November. There are two drop-off locations: Orchards Shopping Center, 261 E. 29th St., Loveland, and Drake Centre, 802 W. Drake. Road to Fort Collins..

Those who wish to participate are asked to bring frozen meat, turkey, ham or chicken. Through a partnership with New Belgium Brewing Co., the first 250 donors at each location will receive a coupon for a six-pack of the brewery’s beer.

The collected turkeys will be distributed through the Food Bank’s network of offices and local schools. Turkeys will not be distributed on November 21.

Those who would like to donate but cannot make it to the Tour de Turkey can drop off donations at the Loveland Warehouse, 5706 Wright Drive, which is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday; Loveland Food Share, 2600 N. Lincoln Ave., is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday; and Fort Collins Food Share, 1301 Blue Spruce Drive, is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Mental health fair

The Mental Health Support Fair will be held on Thursday, November 21st from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Workplace at 201 E. Fourth St.

Discover a warm and supportive environment with more than 15 partners ready to share information about mental health services available in the community.

People can learn about available resources for themselves or someone they care about.

There will be informational stands of local organizations and an opportunity to talk with mental health specialists

Partners include Neurofeedback Clinic of Northern Colorado, Crossroads Safe House, SAVA Victim Advocate Center, Summitstone Health Partners, Health Admission is free.

Art in nature

Sketching and Journaling will be offered on Thursday, November 21st from 3-5pm and 9-11am on Friday, November 22nd at the High Plains Environmental Center – Indoor Classroom​, 2698 Bluestem Willow Drive “Art in nature”.

Participants will work outdoors, capturing the landscape and then highlighting the smaller details on the journal page.

Art in Nature sessions are designed to get beginners comfortable and encouraged to sketch and journal, and for everyone to learn more about the natural world around us. First-time participants receive an orientation to the “art” of nature journaling. At the beginning of each session, there is a “scheme codes” or journaling technique lesson that is optional for returning participants.

Both on Thursday and on Friday morning, the same material is considered.

Gmail tips and tricks

The Loveland Public Library Computer Lab, 300 N. Adams Ave., will host a Gmail Tips and Tricks class from 4-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21.

Go beyond sending and receiving with this hands-on workshop on Gmail features. The workshop will cover important features such as spell checking, formatting emails, searching your inbox, adding a signature, and attaching files. There will be demonstrations and hands-on sessions.

You must have a Gmail address and be comfortable sending and receiving emails. Bring your Gmail username and password and be ready to sign in during the workshop.

Morning at Mackie’s

The “Morning at McKee” series for seniors will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at McKee Medical Center, 2000 N. Boise Ave.

The program will address the importance of rapid response in the treatment of lung nodules.

“Scrooge”

Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, 4747 Marketplace Drive, will present “Scrooge,” opening Thursday, Nov. 21.

The musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol tells the story of miser Ebenezer Scrooge, who embarks on the fantastical journey of his life during one night on Christmas Eve.

The performance will last from Thursday to Sunday until January 12.

“Creative Endeavors”

Poudre School District’s Creative Endeavors Art Show will open with a reception at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Foothills Mall, 215 E. Foothills Parkway.

Gospel album

A release party and concert for Eric Lunde and Sweet Virginia’s new album Gospels, Hymns & Spirituals will be held at 7pm on Friday, November 22nd at The Neighbor, 144 S. Mason St.

Experience the new album in its entirety as performed by the duo, accompanied by an ensemble of Colorado musicians including AJ Fullerton on guitar, banjo and dobro; Scott Kwiatek, bass; Carson McHaney, violin; and Arvind Panjabi, mandolin.

“Beauty and the Beast”

The Severance High School Theater Department will present Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 21-23, with the first performance at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, in the school’s auditorium, 1200 Hidden Valley Parkway.

The classic story follows Belle, a young woman from a provincial town, and the Beast, who is actually a young prince trapped by an enchantress. If the Beast learns to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will turn into his old self. But time is running out. If the Beast doesn’t learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed forever.
