Two teenagers charged with bringing loaded stolen gun to King High School

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Two teenagers were arrested Friday at King High School after they allegedly had loaded and stolen guns, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

School resource deputies were alerted by a teacher after a 14-year-old student was seen passing a gun to a 16-year-old student, deputies said. Both students ran away when they were approached.

The 16-year-old student allegedly got rid of the gun before surrendering, according to the sheriff’s office. The shotgun was reported stolen during the burglary.

“The presence of any weapon on school grounds is deeply concerning and will not be tolerated,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “Our commitment to protecting the students and staff of our schools remains unwavering. Those who bring weapons where they don’t belong will be prosecuted.”

According to deputies, the 16-year-old student was charged with possession of a firearm by a minor, possession of a firearm on school grounds, possession of a stolen firearm and resisting arrest without violence. The 14-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm on school property and possession of a stolen firearm.
