A police officer has reportedly been shot in Pottstown, Montgomery County

POTTSTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) — On Friday, a police officer was shot and killed in Pottstown, Montgomery County.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Kashtanova Street.

A lieutenant on the scene tells WFMZ that officers were called due to a disturbance.

The lieutenant says the suspect then began to struggle, and that’s when a shot was fired, striking the officer.

Sources tell Action News that surgery is required, but the officer’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Police say the suspect is in custody.
