A woman who was injured in an accident involving a chair has died

A 46-year-old woman who was seriously injured in an accident last week has died.

The crash happened around 9 p.m. Nov. 6 on Yellowhead Trail near Winterburn Road.

A booster seat fell from the back of a pickup truck that was traveling westbound on Yellowhead Trail, police said.

The truck stopped, and a few minutes later, a Toyota Corolla sedan, driven by a 46-year-old woman, crashed into the chair.

After that, a Chevy Avalanche crashed into her car from behind.

The truck, which lost its seat, fled the scene, police said.

“Unfortunately, this collision illustrates the tragic outcome that can occur if cargo is not properly secured,” said Acting Sgt. Jeffrey Knull of the Edmonton Police Major Collision Investigations Unit, in a news release.

Police are still looking for information about an older model dark-colored pickup truck.

“If anyone witnessed this collision, has dashcam footage of the incident or knows the driver of the dark truck, we urge them to contact us as soon as possible,” Knull added.
