Man dies after falling off boardwalk during police chase in Guttenberg – NBC New York

A New Jersey man has died after falling from a boardwalk during a police chase, according to law enforcement.

The state attorney general’s office said Friday that Guttenberg police were called around 11 p.m. Tuesday to 68th Street and Bellevue Avenue about a disturbance. Witnesses claim that one of the persons was armed with a gun.

A preliminary investigation revealed that officers found the men involved on JFK Boulevard and that the man had climbed over a railing into a nearby building after a foot chase. Having moved over the railing, the man fell to his death from the embankment.

The man, whose identity has not yet been established, died on the spot. When the man died, a gun was found in his possession.

There is no additional information. The investigation is ongoing.
