GREENSBURG, Ky. (WBKO) – A Greene County man faces more than a decade in prison after a fatal crash that left one dead and five injured.

The crash originally occurred in Summersville on June 24, 2023, according to the release. A Kentucky State Police investigation revealed that 23-year-old Daniel Sidebottom of Greensburg was driving a pickup truck under the influence of alcohol when he failed a stop sign while speeding on KY 323.

Police say he drove through an intersection and hit the passenger side of a car traveling on KY 61, killing a Larue County woman and seriously injuring five others.

On September 12, 2024, Sidebottom pleaded guilty to the following charges, among other traffic violations:

  • Homicide by car while under the influence of alcohol
  • Three first-degree assaults
  • Two second-degree assaults
  • Marijuana storage

The investigation was presented to a Greene County Grand Jury in September 2023, and they later returned an indictment against Sidebottom, the release said. The 11th Judicial District Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office offered and accepted a plea agreement for this investigation.

On November 6, 2024, Greene County District Court sentenced Daniel Sidebottom to 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to the previously mentioned charges.
