MLBPA, FanDuel Settle Lawsuit Over Alleged Misuse of Name, Image and Likeness

NEW YORK — The Major League Baseball Players Association’s commercial affiliate settled a lawsuit with FanDuel on Friday over the alleged unauthorized use of MLB players’ names and images on its sports betting platform.

The settlement, obtained by The Associated Press, says MLB Players Inc. and FanDuel agreed to voluntarily dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice, meaning the lawsuit cannot be filed again.

According to court documents, the association and the sports betting company “are each to bear their own attorney’s fees and costs incurred in connection with this matter.”

FanDuel was removed from the New York lawsuit, which also involved Underdog Sports. It wasn’t immediately clear if Underdog Sports also agreed. The MLBPA has separate ongoing lawsuits against other online betting platforms.
