Howell is in custody on a murder charge near Fowlerville

HANDY TWP. — Michigan State Police are investigating a suspected homicide in an area off Sargent Road near Fowlerville.

Police were dispatched to the home around 1 a.m. Friday after a resident called 911 to say he heard an argument between two roommates who lived in the basement. This is stated in the press release published on X for SMEs, First District.

When the resident went to check on the roommates, he found a 57-year-old Fowlerville man lying on the floor with injuries. The man was killed on the spot. The suspect, a 35-year-old Howell man, fled.

Officers located the suspect using a K-9 with the assistance of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 2:25 a.m., a Millett Road resident called 911 to report someone knocking on their door. Deputies arrived and took the suspect into custody after determining he was the same suspect who fled the home on Sargent Road.

The suspect was transported to MSP Brighton Post.

The MSP wrote to X that it would not release the cause of death and “what weapon was used” at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call 810-227-1051.
