Jammu and Kashmir: Two teenagers killed, two critically injured in speeding accident on Srinagar highway

Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured after their car rammed into a parked truck in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.

The accident took place on the national highway near Tengpora area. The four teenagers, all students of Class 11 of DPS Srinagar, were participating in a speed race when their car rammed into a parked truck.

According to sources, the four students were participating in an annual school function and were riding two Thar SUVs. They were reportedly participating in an impromptu highway race when the accident occurred. After reaching Tengpora, the driver of one of the Thar lost control and collided with a truck parked on the road and then crashed into a divider.

The entire accident was caught on a video surveillance camera. The video shows how the “Tar” crashes into a parked truck, the impact of which throws the vehicle to one side.

Two students were killed on the spot, while two others remain in a coma and fighting for their lives in a hospital in Srinagar.

The crash has sparked widespread criticism of traffic authorities, who are accused of allowing minors to drive and speeding.

In response, the traffic police launched an aggressive crackdown, seizing hundreds of vehicles — including cars and two-wheelers — in a bid to curb teen driving and ensure road safety in the region.
