(Society) After eating the snacks and ramen, the trash can “thunk”… Hallasan Mountain is full of unscrupulous visitors.

Mount Hallasan suffers from unauthorized dumping by visitors.

On the 13th, Yang Yun-soo (Progressive Party, Ara-dong, Jeju-si) of the Jeju Special Municipal Council released 14 photos of the area around the wooden deck at the 433rd Provincial Council Meeting.

Photos released show large and small piles of trash around the deck, including plastic water bottles, wooden chopsticks, plastic bags and snack bags. Representative

Yang noted, “Unlike other famous mountains in other regions, the top of Mount Hallasan is well maintained as a wooden deck,” adding, “From the outside, it looks good because it looks good and safe, but in reality, the top of Mount Hallasan suffers like this.”

“I can’t say that the deck needs to be removed because of safety issues and stuff,” he said. “But because the deck is well established, visitors stay on top too long and throw trash everywhere.”

“At least the act of eating on top of Hallasan needs immediate action,” he said. “It is also necessary to consider ways to clean up Hallasan’s environment together with the people of Jeju in the future.”

Kim Ee-suk, Jeju Island’s deputy governor for political affairs, said, “Employees of the Jeju World Natural Heritage or Hansan World Natural Heritage Custodian are always picking up trash, but there is still a lot of trash. I will try to make Hallasan Gora garbage free,” he said.
