Search continues for driver after pursuit, crash near Minot

MINOT, ND (KMOT) – Law enforcement is looking for a pickup truck driver who they say led the State Patrol on a chase before crashing the truck and fleeing the scene.

According to a report from the North Dakota State Highway Patrol, a trooper attempted to pull over a pickup truck for a seat belt violation around 3:15 p.m. Thursday.

The driver fled and later crashed into a tree near the intersection of 16th Street and 54th Avenue SW, on the southwest border of Minot, the report said.

Investigators reported that the driver fled on foot and had not been located as of 8:30 p.m. They say that the search continues, but there is no threat to the population.

The 30-year-old passenger of the truck was not injured and remained on the spot.

The public is asked to stay away from the area while crews search for the driver.

The driver’s identity has not yet been released, but anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact NDHP at (701) 328-2447 or local police.
