ANPE calls for probe into fake fuel – Nigeria – The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

Ogun protects the task force

The Association of Nigerian Professionals in Europe (ANPE) has called on President Bola Tinubu to investigate the alleged dumping of contaminated petroleum products, also known as fake fuel, into the country.

The association noted that the use of the product could endanger the lives of Nigerians. ANPE also noted that adulterated fuels also have negative effects on the environment in addition to the corresponding danger that fumes from these products pose to public health.

The Global President of ANPE, Mr. Solomon Ola, in a statement yesterday in Abuja, warned that the continued importation of sanctioned contaminated petrol into Nigeria would undoubtedly have diplomatic repercussions, given the sanctions imposed by the Price Capping Coalition, which consists of the European Union, the United States, the G7 and Australia imposed Russian cheese and oil products.

ANPE stressed that President Tinubu should, as a matter of national interest, use his mandate as the head of the country’s executive branch to stop Nigeria from being defined as a dumping ground for contaminated, adulterated and questionable petroleum products of foreign origin.

ANPE’s call came just as the Ogun State Government yesterday said a task force set up in the oil industry was to address fuel meter rigging and other crude practices among operators, even as it debunked allegations of harassment and intimidation by the task force.

The state Commissioner for Transport, Olugbenga Dairo, has said that despite allegations of harassment and intimidation leveled against the task force by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), the government has faced a sharp rise in transport costs and public outrage over unfair fuel pricing. , took a proactive approach by creating a task force aimed at regulating and ensuring fair practices within the petroleum sector.
