Pokemon Go players shocked by surprise ban: ‘It’s so unfair’

What was the big Gigantamax weekend for Pokemon Go players turned out to be a disaster for some after many Pokemon fans were met with unexpected warnings and bans on Saturday. Before the events of Gigantamax began, Pokemon Go players were notified that they were using unauthorized third-party applications or otherwise breaking the rules. Some Pokemon Go players were lucky enough to get away with just a “warning” even though they said it was a mistake, but those less fortunate were banned outright, missing out on the Gigtantamax weekend.

The Pokemon Go warnings of possible unauthorized activity began to appear on Saturday as players prepared Gigantamax. One player posted a screenshot of his message on Reddit saying that they had been given a seven-day warning during which their account would be monitored. If they messed up again, they would risk getting banned.

“We have detected activity in your account that indicates you are using modified client software or unauthorized third-party software that violates our Terms of Service,” it said. “This is the first warning about your account. This will continue for approximately 7 more days. We strongly recommend that you stop this activity. Any further violations will result in account suspension.”

The player said that they didn’t do anything to justify the warning, as people usually say when they are in danger of losing access to Pokemon Gobut in this case (and many others today) it really seems like false warnings. Many other players are inside Pokemon Go The subreddit has confirmed similar reports to say they have also been issued warnings and in some cases banned.

“A few hours ago I was in the middle of a raid when my account was suspended,” one Pokemon Go said the player. “I’ve been playing since day one, never (cheated), don’t even know how to cheat in this game. I filed an appeal but got nothing. 30 days for no reason.”

Although one could expect that the top Pokemon Go the subreddit post for the day will be about Gigantamax Venusaur, Gigantamax Charizard, and Gigantamax Blastoise, instead the post is about this bogus ban issue. Almost all of them are saying the same thing The thing is, they haven’t done anything wrong, and Niantic isn’t helping much other than sending standard responses telling players to play by the rules. No one knows why they got banned or if these bans will stick, but many players are getting 30 day bans. If they are not canceled, it means that they are affected Pokemon Go players will not only miss out on Gigantamax events, but others as well Halloween events which also begin.

past Pokemon Go Events have rarely gone without a hitch, and in most cases when things go horribly wrong, events can be postponed or players given some form of compensation to make up for lost time. When the Gigantamax weekend comes to an end, it wouldn’t be surprising to see something similar for all of these bans.
