A suspect in a fatal Niagara Falls hit-and-run has been arrested

November 14. Niagara Falls police have made an arrest in the Oct. 15 assault on Hyde Park Boulevard.

Patrick J. Washington III, 19, of Buffalo, was taken into custody around 7 p.m. Wednesday at an undisclosed location. A warrant was issued for Washington charging him with second-degree murder and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Washington was scheduled to be arraigned today in district court.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on October 15 in the area of ​​Hyde Park Boulevard and D Street.

Police found Xavier Goeder, 26, of Niagara Falls, lying in the roadway in the 200 block of Hyde Park Boulevard near another vehicle, a 2008 Mercury, which was damaged and partially pushed to the curb. Niagara Falls Fire and AMR responded to the scene. Goder died of his injuries at the scene.

Within minutes, officers were able to get a description of a possible suspect vehicle, which was reportedly a black Ford Escape with a New York license plate. Patrol officers checked the area and located an unoccupied black 2009 Ford Escape with front end damage in the 3500 block of King Avenue.

According to a witness at the scene, Gober was “jumped” several times and run over.
