The accusation came after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused the former Delhi chief minister of being attacked during his padayatra in Vikaspur, West Delhi.

“Yesterday I went to Vikaspur and they attacked me with their thugs. do you want to kill me If you have guts, contest elections against me,” Kejriwal was quoted as saying by ANI at a campaign rally.

Talking further about the BJP, he added that he is not greedy for power or the post of chief minister.

“You (BJP) have government in 22 states, I built 500 Mohalla clinics in Delhi, you should have built 5,000 clinics… I am not greedy for power. I have left the CM chair, I am not worried whether I will come back or not, I am worried that the work of Delhi does not stop.”

He went on to tell the crowd, “…You don’t have to pay for water. Make me CM again and I will waive your water bills.”

AAP charges against BJP

AAP leaders accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of masterminding the Vikaspur incident and warned that the party would be held accountable if any harm was done to Kejriwal.

However, the party has not yet released any video of the alleged attack. The police also said they had not received any formal complaint from AAP.

At a press conference on Saturday, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said Kejriwal was attacked by “BJP goons” while he was campaigning in Vikaspuri district.

“The complicity of the police in the incident clearly indicates a deep conspiracy to kill Kejriwal. BJP has become the enemy of his life,” Singh stated.

Asked why no formal complaint was lodged with the police, Singh said it was the duty of the police to investigate the incident. “Police may take cognizance of the incident and conduct an investigation,” he said, adding that AAP was currently seeking legal advice for further steps.

The BJP rejected AAP’s allegations, saying Kejriwal was simply facing protests from local residents who were unhappy about the supply of dirty water to their homes.
