The ability to act in a good, or even faster, place will be important, and Quick drawing indicates that particular cell.

Nicky Henderson’s eight-year-old ran riot around the Ludlow right-hander, a track not dissimilar to Wincanton, when extinguishing Volcano by 21 lengths last October.

He had perhaps an even better performance at this track in February, once again doing his best to beat Manothepeople by two and a quarter lengths.

Even though it’s 5 pounds heavier, it feels like there’s more to come, and it’s hard to tie down.

His tactical speed on such a ride can also give him a significant advantage against several opponents who consistently stay and prefer deep mud.

Without hubswinner of his last three races, all on heavy ground, is on a career-high 124 wins. The twin factors of putting on weight and moving to much less testing conditions suggest he could be vulnerable during the season reappearance

Distance winner Credo interesting. Last seen when she finished fifth of 21 off The Gradual Slope at Punchestown in May, she starts her new campaign with a fair 128 rating and runs well on a good foundation.

My Silver Liningwho enjoyed a fine campaign in the long-distance chase last season, ideally needs a much tougher test of stamina but remains one to hold firm when the conditions are in her favor this winter.
Richard Burch’s Racial Analysis

What do they say?

David Pipe, Coach Converted
He is in good shape. He’s obviously not getting any younger and although his form dipped a bit last season we wanted to give him another go because he’s full of beans at home. He fell in the ratings because he performed below par, but hopefully he can show his best performance.

Nicky Henderson, Coach Quick drawing
He is a real regular and won handicap chases at Ludlow and Wincanton last season. This season, it is back looking extremely good and ready to provide another season of high entertainment.

Emma Lavelle, trainer My Silver Lining
She is doing very well and is in great shape. Her target is the Welsh national team and I think the ground here should be safe enough for her. She seems to be pretty versatile in that regard and she had a big season last season, but she’s back in great form and I’m really looking forward to getting her out.

My silver lining: Won three of last five starts, including Cheltenham in April

Alexandra Dunn, coach Deise Aba
He’s in good shape and the horses are running brilliantly, but I think it’s a very competitive race. We’ve had a lot of winners recently and the yard is a bit hot at the moment so fingers crossed but it will be a strong race.

Joe Tizzard, Coach Without hubs
He had a great finish last season and can handle slightly softer ground. We had a bit of rain at home on Friday, but hopefully it will be a really good ground. It’s a great place to start, he has good track form and we’re happy.
