A deputy from the Labor Party is accused of assaulting one of his constituents.

Footage shows Runcorn and Helsby Labor MP Mike Amesbury threatening a man in Frodsham, Cheshire.

He can be seen standing over a man sitting on the floor and saying, “You’re never going to threaten me again, are you?” You will never threaten me again.”

After others in the footage point out that he is the local MP, Mr Amesbury says: “Yeah, and you’re never going to threaten an MP again, are you?”

Cheshire Police said: “At 2.48am on Saturday 26th October, police were called to reports of an assault in Frodsham.

“The caller reported that a man attacked him on the main street.

“Investigations are ongoing.”

Mr Amesbury has been contacted for comment.
