Apple is stepping up its security by launching a new iPhone feature called Reboot without activity, which was designed to prevent unauthorized access to your device. As law enforcement agencies continue to request access to locked iPhones, Apple maintains its commitment to privacy by waiving these requests. Now, with iOS 18.1, Apple offers even stronger protection, keeping your iPhone safe even if it’s stolen or confiscated.

Introducing “No Activity Reboot” in iOS 18.1 to thwart thieves and hackers

What is Apple’s idle restart feature?

Inactivity Reboot is a new mechanism integrated in iOS 18.1 that works on various iPhones, including the iPhone 16 series. This feature is activated remotely by Apple to protect the device, especially during suspicious activities such as repeated password attempts or abnormal termination work When this activity is detected, the device automatically reboots, making it almost impossible to unlock – even with advanced technology.

The feature works by switching the phone from AFU (after first unlock) state to BFU (before first unlock) state if suspicious activity is detected. According to a report by 404 Media, security experts confirm that the phone will change states after a set period of inactivity or irregular attempts to access it. In the BFU state, the device becomes much more difficult to hack, even with sophisticated tools.

How will Inactivity Reboot protect your iPhone?

Apple’s new security tool tracks a device’s unlock history and tracks unusual activity patterns. If the device has not been unlocked after rebooting, or if irregular access attempts are detected, the inactivity reboot feature is activated. By returning your device to a more secure, locked state, it’s virtually impossible to hack.

Apple’s latest security additions, including reboot without activity and lock mode, reflect the brand’s commitment to user privacy. While many iPhone users will never need these advanced tools, the added protection is valuable for those concerned about privacy and security.
