A Feeding America West Michigan food distribution event will be held in Dickinson and Iron counties on Wednesday

UPPER MICHIGAN, Mich. (WLUC) – Food insecurity in Michigan continues to affect more and more families across the state, and Feeding America West Michigan’s mobile food pantry efforts are aimed at slowing the growth.

The overall food insecurity rate in Michigan is currently 14.2%, up from 10.6% in 2023. In the Upper Peninsula, the level of food security is 15.8% in 2024. On Wednesdays, Feeding America West Michigan distributes food to families in need. in Kingsford and Iron River. The first mobile food pantry event is at Redemption Hill Church, where food is distributed at 10 a.m. Central Time. The second event will be held at Grace Covenant Church, where the food distribution will begin at 1:00 pm central time.

Reservists can pick up food for those who can’t get to the pantries, but space is limited. Both events are drive-thru.
