Jealous husband kills wife in Hyderabad on suspicion of infidelity |

Hyderabad: Daily wager Fayaz Qureshi, 25, allegedly stabbed his wife Hamar Begum, 23, and set her on fire at their house in Bandlagudi, Old City on Monday night. She died on the spot. According to the Bandlaguda police, the accused suspected her of having an affair. The couple has two children aged five and three.
Police said the couple got married six years ago and lived in Hashamabad. The couple often quarreled because Qureshi suspected her of having affairs with other men. On Monday evening, he returned home and had an argument with her over the matter.
He stabbed her several times with a kitchen knife. When she collapsed on the bed, he got out and got gas from his bicycle. Then he doused her with gasoline and set her on fire. Qureshi’s mother and his children were sleeping in another room. When they reported the fire, the neighbors rushed to save them. Although Qureshi reportedly surrendered, the police claimed he was absconding and would be arrested soon.
