Murder #40 for Turks and Caicos – Wake Up Call – Magnetic Media

Turks and Caicos, 18 October 2024 – Five murders were reported in the Turks and Caicos Islands this month; two of them related to a fatal shooting in late September; the other three take place between October 9 and 15.

On Tuesday, October 1, the Royal Constabulary TCI confirmed the murder of one of the country’s “most wanted” men. Juvli Inelus was shot and horribly slashed and found in a pool of blood in the Blue Hills the day before.

“At around 11.12pm officers received information and went to bushland in Miracle Close, Blue Hills. Upon arrival, officers found the motionless body of a man wearing a black tank top and black basketball pants with what appeared to be gunshot and other injuries.

Mr. Inelus has been avoiding the police for the past three months.”

That same day, Eagle Legal News Media reported, and later confirmed, TCI police that one of the two men shot an apparent of the targeted attack on Snake Hill on September 27 died in a hospital abroad.

“Blue Hills resident FRANCIS PIERRE died of gunshot wounds. Pierre, 41, was shot on September 27 while he was in Stammers Run, Snake Hill. The police control room received calls that shots were heard around 8:35 p.m. Police and medical personnel arrived and found two men, Mr. Pierre and Paulcius Luites Vereus. Mr. Vereus did not react,” the official police report says.

Two homicide reports in early October brought the nation’s homicide toll to 36, surpassing the deadliest year in 2022, when 34 people were killed (including an unborn child).

A week-long lull in violent killings was interrupted when police were called to the Bight in Providenciales early Wednesday morning, Oct. 9, where residents reported hearing “multiple gunshots.”

A man, later identified as Lewis Francis Jr., was found dead. A second man was injured in the same attack and was taken to hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound.

Eagle Legal News Media has learned: “on the night of the murder and attempted murder of another in the Bight, we counted 40 yellow and black police ‘shot projectile’ markers.

His body is lying face up, his hat down where he sat with the other gunshot victim.”

An investigative journalist shared that one gunman approached the couple and opened fire.

“Lewis Francis Jr. tried to get up and run away, but he collapsed instantly. The shooter discharged the magazine from the fallen man, replaced the magazine with a much longer one, and continued firing,” Wilkie Arthur said in his incident report.

TCI Police said: “A call came in shortly after midnight today (Oct. 9) to police dispatch reporting a shooting in Lower Bight, Providenciales.

A team of officers and medics was dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers found a man wearing a black t-shirt, black jeans and black shoes unresponsive. The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Lewis Francis Jr.

The RT&CIPF extends its condolences to the family of Mr Francis.

Around 1:27 a.m., officers were called to a man with gunshot wounds found inside a residence in The Bight. According to the preliminary investigation, this is related to the first incident. Law enforcement officers responded and urgently took the 38-year-old victim to a medical facility for medical assistance.”

Francis Jr. was 37 for the country^thousand murders for 2024.

Thirty-two hours later, on Thursday, October 10, the number of murders would increase.

“According to those who heard it and reported it to the police, during one of those (power company) power outages, the residents of Five Keys heard several loud shots from what appeared to be two of three different types of firearms,” Arthur said. Eagle Legal News Media.

Evanson Walkin, aka Archie or Bonka, was found dead at the age of 28.

It was another murder that raised eyebrows. Despite Walkin’s criminal past, those close to the young man shared that he now lives an honest life.

“He worked very hard on the water, doing water sports and boating. He has his faults but was a very sweet little guy who was loved by many tourists.

He has a little girl.”

Six days later, residents were horrified by new shootings. This is in broad daylight in plain sight at an elementary school in the area.

The Department of Education released a statement that read in full: “The Department of Education is deeply saddened to confirm that a shooting occurred on October 15, 2024 near Enid Capron Elementary School. The safety and well-being of our students. and staff remain our top priority as we navigate this troubling situation.

At approximately 10:00 a.m., law enforcement officers responded to a report of a shooting near the school. Although no students or staff were injured, the incident understandably caused serious concern in our community.

In response, the Ministry of Education is taking immediate and proactive measures to ensure the safety of our students and staff:

Increased security: We work with local law enforcement to increase security in and around school grounds. Police and security officers will be present throughout the week to provide reassurance and support.
Communicating with parents and guardians: We are committed to keeping our community informed. We have sent a message to all parents and carers outlining the incident, our response and the resources available for support. Our lines of communication remain open for any questions or concerns.
Crisis Counseling Services: Our counseling groups, led by school counselors, are available to provide emotional support to students and staff. In addition, our Student Support Services will be available to all students and staff during and after this difficult period.
Safety training and education: The school’s critical incident management plan has been activated to respond to an active shooter Under the scenario, Enid Capron Elementary School will review its safety protocols and conduct additional training for staff and students to ensure they are prepared for any future incidents.

“We are heartbroken by today’s events and our thoughts go out to those affected by the incident,” said the Honorable Rachel Taylor, Minister for Education. “We are focused on providing a safe environment for our students and staff and we will continue to work closely with local authorities to ensure this.

As the situation develops, the Ministry of Education will provide updates through official channels.”

Eagle Legal News Media reported that residents were the first to find the body and that it took some time before police took control of the crime scene.

“Then we went to Five Keys and there were not many police but the police commissioner was directing the traffic to turn around because the street had become a crime scene. People couldn’t walk and vehicles couldn’t go in that direction anymore.”

Teachers, school staff and students were scared, Arthur said.

We soon learned that the shot man, who was left bleeding in a pool of water, was Dorlens Zamor, a 33-year-old resident of Five Keys.

Zamor was homicide number 39 in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
