The MoCI app expedites handling of consumer complaints

Doha, Qatar: Consumer complaints through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) app have increased significantly due to a simple submission process, an official said.

“The app has saved consumers effort and time by allowing them to file complaints wherever they are without visiting any office,” said Assistant Director of MoCI’s Consumer Protection and Commercial Fraud Department, Mohammed Ali Al Adhbah.

In a recent interview with Qatar TV, he said the app also speeds up the process as complaints reach the relevant department immediately, unlike the previous traditional way of filing a complaint in person at an office.

“The number of complaints through the app has increased significantly compared to the traditional way, which depended on submitting paper complaints, because the app has made the process much easier and faster,” Al Adbah said.

He said that the concerned departments of the Ministry of Home Affairs evaluate the complaints to ascertain their authenticity and whether the complainant has submitted the necessary documents such as the shop name, account and other necessary documents.

The MOCIQATAR app, which is available for iPhone and Android devices, allows consumers to submit complaints related to pricing and sales, products and services, advertising and information, invoicing and payment, licensing and compliance, health, safety and public order, exploitation and misuse.

The Ministry launched the app to streamline the complaint process, improve service quality and ensure that user needs are met effectively.

By launching this new service, MoCI aims to ensure consumer protection.
