Earlier this week, as the election results came in and Trump appeared to have secured a second term, the official Team Trump TikTok account posted a celebratory video featuring Rodrigo’s hit song “deja vu,” and Rodrigo was less than thrilled.

Olivia Rodrigo’s position is not surprising given her public support for the vice president Kamala Harris.

The video was captioned: “And suddenly the words ‘I’m the president-elect’ came out of my mouth…” referring to deja vu when Trump won the presidency again. But Rodrigo wasn’t having it.

The 20-year-old pop sensation quickly hit back at the comments, writing: “Don’t ever use my sound again.”

Although Rodrigo’s comment has since disappeared, it appears she took further action off-screen. The song was immediately removed from the video, probably at her request, as she partially owns the copyright.

In July, she supported Harris on Instagram Stories, sharing a clip from one of Harris’ rallies.

Fans are calling Rodrigo “iconic” after she publicly accused Trump of using her music without permission.

Rodrigo has been doing vocals for a long time defender of reproductive rights and is the founder of the 4 Good Foundation, an initiative aimed at promoting the rights of women and girls to education, reproductive health and protection from gender-based violence.

In 2021, Rodrigo even met with Vice President Harris to discuss vaccine awareness, so it’s no surprise that she would take issue with the Trump campaign’s use of her music.

Earlier this year, Rodrigo made headlines during a concert in St. Louis when he gave fans an unexpected parting gift: condoms and a Plan B. distributed in cooperation with the Missouri Abortion Foundation. The initiative was aimed at promoting reproductive health, with the former Disney Channel star using her platform to defend access to contraception and support reproductive rights.

“I’m devastated and scared,” Rodrigo told the crowd at the time, trans The Guardian. “So many women and so many girls will die because of this. I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who showed us that at the end of the day, they really don’t give a f–t about freedom.”

“Before I jump on stage, I wanted to come here and talk about something that I care about a lot,” Rodrigo told a crowd in California last month, per Billboard. “The 4 Good Foundation works to support all women, girls and people seeking reproductive health freedom.”

“The fund will directly support community nonprofits that advocate for things like girls’ education, support reproductive rights and prevent gender-based violence,” the “good 4 u” singer added.

Olivia Rodrigo joins list of Hollywood artists calling out Trump for unauthorized use of music

Former Disney Channel star Rodrigo, known for his outspoken personality, joined a growing list of artists who oppose the unauthorized use of their music the Trump campaign. Now many musicians are taking active measures so that their work is not connected with the events of the former president.

For example, in August 2024 Celine DionThe team released a statement denying the use of her song “My Heart Will Go On” at a Trump rally in Montana, stressing that the use was unauthorized. Likewise, in September 2024, the estate of Isaac Hayes obtained a preliminary injunction to prevent the Trump campaign from using “Wait, I’m Coming” at events, citing copyright infringement.

RihannaJack White, Steven Tyler, Neil Young, Guns N’ Roses and Earth, Wind & Fire have also openly condemned the use of their music at Trump rallies or in social media posts, similar to Rodrigo’s recent stance.
