Double shooting in Lafayette: two dead

LAFAYETTE PARISH. The Lafayette Police Department is investigating a shooting in the 400 block of East University Avenue in Lafayette that left four people with gunshot wounds, two dead and two others in critical condition.

The Lafayette Police Department (LPD) said one of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other victims were taken to a nearby hospital, where the second victim later died of his injuries. The other two victims are currently in critical condition as medical personnel work to stabilize them.

Police immediately responded to the scene and established a crime scene on East University Avenue. LPD investigators are working diligently to uncover the details of the incident and determine what led up to the fatal shooting.

The authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased, as the next of kin are still waiting to be notified. It is expected that additional information about the victims will be communicated to the families.
