Hyderabad: MLAs D Sudheer Reddy, Kaleru Venkatesh and BRS Swami Yadav on Saturday condemned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s remarks on the Musi river project.

Addressing a joint press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Sudheer Reddy criticized the chief minister for using inappropriate language and pointed out that BRS had initiated a project to clean the Musi river. They expressed disappointment at the CM’s claims that BRS was obstructing the project.

BRS leaders demanded that the development of the Musi River should not lead to the resettlement of people. They accused Revanth Reddy of inciting farmers in Nalgonda district and forcing the poor to leave their homes at midnight. They highlighted that the Chandrashekhar Rao-led BRS government has constructed 32 STPs (treatment plants) in Hyderabad, 8 of which have already been completed to provide clean water to the Musi river. Sudhir Reddy, former chairman of the Musi River Development Corporation, said the BRS government had developed the Musi River without harming the poor. He demanded the implementation of the 2013 Land Acquisition Act package for displaced people and payment of compensation. BRS leaders warned that they would block bulldozers if necessary to protect the rights of displaced persons.
