Jon Jones confirms that he will come to UFC 309 lighter than the last fight

Jon Jones has gotten a haircut since we last saw him in the UFC Octagon.

“Bones” first stepped on the scales as a heavyweight in March 2023, taking a three-year hiatus to move up from light heavyweight (205 pounds). Upon his return, Jones would weigh in at 248 pounds for his UFC 285 bout with Cyril Gane, edging out Gane (who weighed 247.5) to win the vacant title with ease.

We didn’t see much from this heavyweight version of Jones, as the fight ended with a guillotine choke just over two minutes into the fight.

How will Jones fare in his second and possibly final heavyweight appearance against a more established former champion in Stipe Miocic? We’ll have to wait until November 16 for the results, but not for Jones’ current weight.

In an interview with New York Post Sports Scott FontanaJones says he weighs around 235 pounds, which is 13 pounds less than he weighed at UFC 285 20 months ago.

“I’ve bulked up, I’ve gotten really strong,” Jones said of his past heavyweight physique. “I felt how I was going to feel, and now more than ever I feel like I don’t need that size to win at heavyweight.”

“I’m just a small guy, but I feel fast and very strong. I do weightlifting with heavyweights all the time.” Jones added.
