Suspect in October Uptown murder arrested in Maryland, will be extradited

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man accused of killing a 32-year-old Charlotte man in October has been arrested in Maryland, authorities said.

On Nov. 5, CMPD announced that their Violent Apprehension Team, in coordination with Prince George’s County, Maryland, took 39-year-old Corey Livingston into custody.

Police said he will be extradited to Mecklenburg County and charged with murder.

The fatal shooting happened just after 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, in the 100 block of Winding Path Way. When police arrived, they found several shell casings and an empty vehicle.

A short time later, police responded to a similar call near the intersection of N. Davidson and E. 12th Streets. It was about 0.5 miles from the first 911 call.

When they got there, they found 32-year-old Jamario Caldwell with multiple gunshot wounds. The police reported that medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Caldwell’s family was notified of the arrest this week. The investigation is active and ongoing.
