Two 18-year-olds charged with hate crimes and vandalism in Thousand Oaks

After that, two 18-year-old youths were charged with crimes graffiti is open hate speech to the Thousand Oaks building, officials announced Friday.

The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office charged Matthew Daniel Rakowski of Simi Valley and Johann Bernhardt Patrick of Thousand Oaks with one count of vandalism and one count of hate crime.

On Oct. 14, Thousand Oaks Patrol deputies responded to a report of graffiti vandalism where anti-Semitic language and anti-white supremacy symbols were painted on the side of a commercial building.

Prosecutors said the two suspects were captured on surveillance video, which detectives later used to identify the teenagers and their car.

Police arrested Patrick the next day in Thousand Oaks and Rakowski on Oct. 16 in Simi Valley.

Patrick was charged on October 17th and Rakowski was charged on October 25th.

However, as after his arrest, Rakovsky is currently out on bail – this time for $20,000. According to Patrick, he remains in custody DA release from October 18.

Rakovsky will stand trial on October 30.
