A chase in a stolen car through an orchard led to the arrest of a man

A Los Banos man was arrested for burglary after a police chase, according to the Los Banos Police Department.

According to the LBPD, around 8:40 Thursday night, officers received a report of a stolen vehicle and a burglary at a shed in the 300 block of I Street.

Shortly after, police received a report of shots fired in the area of ​​South 11th Street and Pioneer Street.

The officer saw a suspicious pickup truck driving along the side of Pioneer Road.

Police say the pickup truck backfired, causing a noise that was reportedly caused by gunshots.

When the police tried to stop the pickup truck, the driver continued driving into the orchard at high speed.

After that, the pickup truck hit a tree in the garden, the driver got out and continued to run away.

The policeman continued to chase the man until he finally caught him.

The man was identified as 42-year-old Abel Salinas Jr. of Los Banos.

The police established the pickup as a stolen car, the report of which the police had drawn up earlier.

Salinas was booked into the police department for theft of a vehicle, burglary and possession of stolen property.
