Florida Congressman Brian Mast suggested that the United States could “benefit” from Israeli attacks on Iran if airstrikes focused on Iranian drones.

Israeli officials confirmed that its military conducted a series of strikes in response to an airstrike carried out by Iran earlier this month. Iranian media reported that explosions and sounds of air defense systems could be heard around Tehran on Friday evening. A representative of Israel’s National Security Council said that its military was “carrying out targeted strikes on military targets in Iran as a self-defense exercise and in response to Iran’s October 1 ballistic missile attack on Israel.”

Pole, a republicanreacted to the message about X, earlier Twittersaying that “Israel could change the landscape in America’s favor with these strikes.”

“If they hit Iran’s drone facilities, that means the Houthis will not be able to buy drones to attack American ships,” Mast added. “If Israel strikes Iran’s oil fields, it will hurt China, Iran’s biggest oil customer.”

Two Israeli officials who spoke to The Associated Press said Israel had not struck Iran’s nuclear or oil facilities. It is not known which sites were the target of the attacks.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
