Alleged Vandal Who Caused 0,000 in Damage to BART Entrances Arrested

The man is suspected of vandalism, which caused damage to hundreds of thousands of entrances in three San Francisco BART stations have been seized, authorities said.

Sakeo Delcidmontenegro, 28, was taken into custody on Tuesday evening after he was spotted on board BART train on Tuesday evening a BART Police the transit ambassador, who recognized him from the information leaflet.

Since Oct. 5, BART officials said 29 large glass panels have been damaged at the entrance to the Embarcaderostations, Montgomery and Powell Street.

Many of the destroyed panels are part of the new canopies being built over the entrances to the central stations.

Canopies are required by law to protect new outdoor escalators being installed. The total cost of replacing the panels is estimated at more than $500,000.

Delcidmontenegro, a San Francisco resident, was booked into the San Francisco County Jail on suspicion of five counts of vandalism.
