Atlantic Cape Community men’s basketball has earned a well-deserved reputation for producing great talent.

The latest example is Christopher Parker, who received a full Division 1 scholarship to South Carolina State University.

The opportunity will keep Parker close to home.

“It’s close to home. I’m literally from the beginning, about 40 minutes away, so my dad, my mom and my sisters will be able to come to my games,” Parker said. “I also really liked what coach (head coach Eric Martin) talked to me about. They have a few guys leaving, so I’ll really get a chance to show what I can do at the Division I level,” Parker said.

Despite the great news ahead next year, Parker remains focused on helping his ACCC team in the upcoming season.

“This year I want to show my leadership skills on the court by making sure I’m more vocal on the court and being a leader,” Parker said. “However, my goal is to win the championship this year,” Parker said.

ACCC head coach Allen Ragland has high hopes for Parker and his team this season.

“Christopher has transformed his game and his conditioning, positioning himself as a top power in the league (National Junior College Athletic Association and Garden State Athletic Conference),” Ragland said. “Christopher is ready to make him mark it as a formidable presence year,” Ragland said.
