South actor Sivakarthikeyan is celebrating the success of his latest biopic Amaran. Apart from him, the film also stars Sai Pallavi, Bhuvan Arora and Rahul Bose. After eight days in theaters, the Rajkumar Periasamy-directed film has earned Rs 114 crore at the domestic box office, according to data from Saknilka. Following this success, the cast and crew of Amaran were interviewed by Pinkvilla.

During a media interaction, the 39-year-old actor spoke about his cameo in Thalapathy Vijay’s latest film The Greatest of All Time (GOAT). Explaining the importance of the baton transfer scene, Sivakarthikeyan said, “His legacy is his and no one can touch that or take it away. I see it as a very sweet scene where our senior, a very big star, is sharing the screen with a next generation star.”

He further highlighted the struggles and battles of Thalapathy Vijay to reach this level of stardom and said that passing the baton means that the South superstar is giving him his love. “I felt that he was giving me his love, that’s how I took it and took it that way. His 30-year journey has been filled with his struggles and battles to get to this level, so I can’t just go and take it and say, “From now on, I’m going to continue it.” It’s not like that,” he said, adding that he will always remember his episodic role in the Tamil-language action film.

Sharing his thoughts on the matter, Sivakarthikeyan recalled his tweet during the release of Thalapathy Vijay’s Thuppakki in 2012. He talked about the tweet saying that it meant that those people who had Thuppakki tickets were much cooler than those who had guns. The 39-year-old actor then praised Thalapathy, saying how much he learned from him.

“This is very special to me. So I don’t see it as a passing of the baton or anything. I learn good things from all my senior stars. I have learned everything good from them and I will try to incorporate it and make good movies or more hit movies like them. But I will never think, “I want to be them,” Sivakarthikeyan said in the same interview.

Thalapathy Vijay’s film The Greatest of All Time was released in September 2024 and became the highest grossing Tamil film of 2024.
