Sambalpur police are solving the double mystery of the murder with the help of a scene reconstruction

They threw gasoline bottles into the backyard, then moved on to Snehalatoa and strangled her to death. Finally, they set fire to the kitchen to get rid of Sairendra’s body and create the impression of a fire. According to him, they escaped through the window on the back.

“We have also collected CCTV footage in which accused Sanket is seen buying petrol in two bottles. No other person was involved in the incident, and the motive for the killing was a property dispute,” Beg added.

Snehalata was bedridden due to her age-related illness, while Sairendri, who had retired as a primary school teacher, was unmarried and lived with her mother on the top floor of the house. Jagannath and his family lived on the first floor of the house.

“Jagannath found out from the tax office that the house was in the name of Snehalata’s two unmarried daughters. Although one illegitimate daughter predeceased him, Sairendri remained with his mother, making her the rightful owner of the property after Snehalata. That is why he planned to kill the duo along with his son to take possession of the property,” police sources said.
