“Every time I look up my brother’s case or call about it, it’s always ‘unknown shooter,'” Shada Graves told FOX6 News in August. “A few weeks later, my nephew shot a man in the head and set his body on fire.”

Deshaun Graves was already charged with murder on August 4. He was charged this week in the July death of his uncle, Darrell Harbour. Prosecutors said Graves shot and killed Harbor near 36th Street and Courtland. The shooting was caught on nearby surveillance cameras.

Shada Graves, Harbor’s sister, told FOX6 News in August that she went to the cops: “I called them the next day to tell them who did the shooting, and it was my nephew.”

It is unclear where Deshaun Graves was in the days following Harbor’s murder. But weeks later, prosecutors say he pulled the trigger again — killing 31-year-old Quincy Smith near 84th and Carmen.

Prosecutors said Graves shot Smith after a fight. Smith fell back into the van that had been stolen hours earlier and Graves drove off with Smith’s head still hanging from the car. An hour later, cops found the van on fire near 34th and Auer. Smith’s body was inside.

“It was torture the way he used my son,” Smith’s mother said. “I never got to see my child when he left the world. It hurt me the most.”

Graves under custody

Two days after the August shooting, police showed up at the home, which was being rented out as an Airbnb. They arrested Graves and his 22-year-old girlfriend, Yakia Gates. She is accused of being an accessory to a criminal and still has no lawyer to represent her.

FOX6 reached out to Graves’ attorney but did not hear back by deadline for this story. Court documents show that he is accused of the following:

  • Filming on July 15: First Degree Negligent Manslaughter, No Bail (Two Counts)

  • Filming on August 4: First Degree Negligent Murder, Arson, Mutilation of a Corpse, Bailable Felony (Two Counts)

Graves remains in jail on $1 million bond for the two cases.
