Heavy smoke, flames at business on Bingle Road

HOUSTONThe Houston Fire Department is battling a 2-alarm fire at a northwest warehouse Houston.

The fire reportedly broke out around 3:10 p.m. in the 3300 block of Bingle Road near Bascom Street at the facility. Heavy smoke and flames are visible from the building.

According to Brent Taylor, director of communications for the Houston Fire Department, firefighters were trying to enter the building to put out the fire but were having trouble due to the debris.

About 15 minutes later, a second alarm was called as the smoke and flames persisted.

Taylor said at least 100 firefighters are battling the blaze.

Officials said firefighters are on the scene and investigating the fire.

Air and water quality in the area is monitored and there is no indication that a shelter is needed.

Officials said the building is likely a furniture warehouse.

Taylor added that there was a homeless encampment near the fire, and those people were being checked by authorities.

No casualties have been reported.

It’s unclear how long firefighters will remain at the scene, but drivers should avoid the area.
