MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Jewish Film Festival is celebrating 27 years.

Beginning October 27, moviegoers will enjoy five nights of carefully selected films that illustrate the Jewish experience in many countries, including France, Israel, Italy and the Netherlands.

The films are thought-provoking and educational, intense, in some cases relatable and moving. All are centered around themes that reflect Jewish tradition, culture and history.

“Our goal is to bring different experiences from different countries each year,” says Mickey Seinfeld, director of special events for the Harry and Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center.

The five-night festival takes place at the Marcus North Shore Cinema. Immediately after each film, the audience will have the opportunity to express their thoughts and spark a discussion around questions that may have arisen during the film.

“It’s understanding that everyone is different and every experience is different. It’s important, it’s educational, it’s cultural, you know, and it’s entertaining,” Seinfeld says.

The organizers say that the selected films are not yet available for streaming.

The festival will last from October 27-31. For tickets and more information JCCMILWAUKEE.ORG/FILMFESTIVAL
