Honor those who served at these North Texas Veterans Day events

Veterans Day, celebrated annually on November 11, honors and thanks those who have served in the United States military. Parades, festivals and flag services are planned throughout North Texas this week in honor of the holiday.

JOHN WAYNE: THE AMERICAN EXPERIENCEADMISSION IS FREE FOR VETERANS
Veterans and active duty military can visit the John Wayne exhibit for free November 9-11. Museum patrons have exclusive access to never-before-seen family photos, correspondence, military costumes from some of Wayne’s films, and other military awards and memorabilia.

Details: November 9-11, at the Fort Worth Stockyards. Free admission for veterans and active duty military with ID. Standard admission is $17.95-$22.95.

PLANO FLAGS OF HONOR
The Rotary Club of Plano East celebrates Veterans Day by flying more than 1,000 American flags each year, each honoring a veteran or first responder. You can walk around the field of flags during the day, take pictures and meditate. The 8-day event features programs from veterans organizations, musical performances, a Quilts of Valor exhibit, hot air balloon rides, and more.

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION
Join North Richland Hills for the city’s 17th annual Veterans Day celebration to honor those who have served. NRH Police and Fire Honor Guard before the Wreath Laying Ceremony, enjoy patriotic music and performances. Photos of community representatives who have served or are currently serving in the military will be placed on the wall of honor in the hall of the city hall.

AMERICAN HEROES: A SALUTE TO VETERANS AND FIRST RESPONDERS
Now in its 17th year, the colony salutes veterans and first responders by offering a day of celebration, remembrance and appreciation. Activities include a carnival, car show, veterans ceremony and music by country music stars Pam Tillis and Hunter Hayes. The drone show event will end.

GREATER DALLAS VETERANS DAY PARADE
Dallas’ Veterans Day event kicks off with an 11-hour ceremony that includes a symbolic wreath-laying ceremony, accompanied by gunfire, a military flyover of the missing and patriotic remarks by local civic and military leaders. After the ceremonies, the local high school JROTC cadets will perform Divine Mass. The parade begins at the intersection of Admiral Nimitz Circle and ML King Blvd. and passes in review on Grand Avenue.

TARRANT COUNTY VETERANS DAY PARADE
Fort Worth’s annual Veterans Day celebration began more than 100 years ago, in 1919, as an armistice march through downtown to honor those who fought in World War I. The theme of this year’s Tarrant County Veterans Parade is Cowtown Salute: From Border Troopers to Space Frontiers and More. It stops at the Fort Worth Panther Island Pavilion parking lot and heads down North Forest Park Boulevard. along the Clear Fork of the Trinity River and then returns.

AGILLY VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION
Farmers Branch honors local veterans at this annual event, which includes a patriotic tap ceremony and presentation of the Charlie Byrd Spirit of Service Award. Enjoy music from a live brass band, a free hot dog lunch and veterans service booths.

Details: Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farmers Branch Recreation Center in Farmers Branch. free.

CITY OF ALLEN VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION
The city of Allen celebrates Veterans Day with a concert featuring a set of patriotic tunes performed by the Allen Jazz Band. The event also includes a keynote address by special guest Captain Allen Clark, author of The Wounded Soldier, The Healing Warrior.

Details: November 11th from 7:30pm to 9:00pm at the Allen Heritage Village in Allen. free.


VETERANS DAY AT PGA FRISCO
Veterans and military members can play golf for free on Veterans Day. There is also a 25% discount on food and soft drinks at the Ice House and Lounge by Topgolf. Tee times are available on a first-come, first-served basis. On Saturday, November 16, see more than 75 luxury cars, including McLaren, Lamborghini and Ferrari, at the Veterans Day Supercar Show.
