1 dead in houseboat fire at Hidden Harbor Marina

One person died early Friday morning in a houseboat fire on the Mississippi River.

At about 1:55 a.m., rescuers were dispatched to Hidden Harbor Marina in St. Paul Park to search for a fully submerged houseboat that was moored.

Another houseboat caught fire before officials arrived; however, residents were able to evacuate safely.

The St. Paul Park Fire Department said one deceased victim was pulled from the first houseboat around 9 a.m. So far, their identity has not been confirmed.

According to officials, the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
