North Carolina police seek suspect in high-speed chase across state lines

ROWLAND, NC (WMBF) – Police in Rowland are asking the community to be on the lookout for a suspect wanted in a high-speed chase Wednesday night.

The Rowland Police Department said officers found Alton Shane Tyner trespassing at a construction site. During the investigation, they learned that Tyner had allegedly stolen property from the site, and when officers asked him to get out of the vehicle, he fled.

Tyner led police on a chase through Rowland, down I-95 and into Dillon County, where they called off the pursuit “for safety reasons.”

Police are now asking people who may have seen Tyner or know where he is to come forward.

He was last seen driving a silver and black pickup truck. He is described as a white male, 5’3″ with brown eyes and brown hair.

The RUP issued a warrant for his arrest.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Rowland Police Department at 910-416-2081
