Is Khalil Herbert playing this week? Latest News, Bengals RB Week 10 Update vs. Ravens

With Zach Moss out indefinitely with a neck injury, the Bengals acquired running back Khalil Herbert to help fill out their depth chart. While Chase Brown will likely be the primary running back on offense, Herbert should still get opportunities in Cincinnati’s backfield.

Herbert ranks behind Chase Brown and Trayveon Williams on the Bengals’ depth chart, but Herbert could move up as he becomes more comfortable in the offense.

The Sporting News is looking into Herbert’s status for this week’s game against the Ravens.

Is Khalil Herbert playing this week?

With the Bengals on a short week this week as they play the Ravens on Thursday night, it’s unclear how much Herbert will play. Still, the running back rejoined practice Tuesday after the trade was completed and is healthy enough to at least suit up for the game.

Head coach Zach Taylor left the door open for Herbert to play this week.

“We’ll see where it goes,” Taylor said. “I wouldn’t take it off the table.”

Quarterback Joe Burrow said Herbert should be able to play on such a fast turnaround because he can help his new teammate as much as possible.

“He stands by me and doesn’t know what to do” Burrow said. “I lean over and tell him he’s right next to me.”

During the first three years of his career, Herbert was a regular in the Bears offense, starting 12 games and totaling 1,775 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. This year, however, the Bears have committed to D’Andre Swift and RoShon Johnson at running back, and Herbert has been relegated to the third string and sometimes even a healthy scratch.

Veteran Zach Moss injured his neck during practice last week which could force him to miss the rest of the season. That opens the door for Herbert to get more playing time with the Bengals than he had with the Bears.
