A body was recovered from the water near Woodlands Pier after the MPA reported a man had fallen overboard

When The Straits Times arrived at the scene at around 4.10pm, police and SCDF vehicles could be seen at the entrance to Woodlands Waterfront Park.

Coast Guard and MPA police boats could also be seen on the water near the jetty.

The Ministry of Health has not announced the time of the incident or the date of receipt of the report.

The Chinese-language Lianhe Zaobao reported that the incident happened around 10 a.m. and that the company responsible for cleaning the surface of the water had reported the man missing.

The Ministry of Sustainable Development and Environment’s June 2022 National Marine Litter Action Strategy defines marine litter as any floating object of reasonable size, including tree trunks, plastic bottles, carcasses, barrels, floating pontoons and dead fish.

The MPA deploys nine boats to clean the sites daily to ensure the safety of navigation around Singapore waters, the document added.
