A man was arrested after stabbing a woman and two children in London UK news

A woman and two children were stabbed in East London.

Metropolitan police say officers were called to First Avenue, Dagenham, around 5:35 p.m. to reports of a stabbing.

A woman, believed to be in her 30s, and two children – a girl, believed to be eight, and a boy, believed to be two – were found with stab wounds.

“We are waiting for an update on the condition of the woman and the two-year-old boy,” the police said.

“The injuries of the eight-year-old girl are incompatible with life.”

At first, the police reported that both injured children were girls.

The man was arrested on the spot on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was also taken to the hospital after he became ill, but was released from custody after being evaluated, police said.

Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford, in charge of Barking and Dagenham Police, said: “This is a truly shocking attack and I would like to thank local residents for their help and patience while we deal with this incident.

“At this early stage we believe that those involved knew each other and we are not looking for anyone in connection with this incident.

“The crime scene will remain in place for some time while our officers carry out their vital work and you will see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.”

The London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance were also sent to the scene.
