A drunk driver crashed a truck on railroad tracks in West Michigan

IONIA COUNTY, Mich. (FOX 2)A pickup truck was crushed by a train after the driver, who was drunk, got stuck on the railroad tracks and abandoned the vehicle.

The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office said a 2007 Ford F-150 was stuck on railroad tracks near Jackson and West Beeple roads in Campbell Township around 10:35 pm on Wednesday. When the driver saw the train approaching, he got out of the truck before it hit the car.

Authorities reported that the man admitted to the deputies that he was intoxicated at the time.

Michigan State Police investigated the train crash, and the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office will handle the DUI investigation.
