OPP responded to a suspected impaired driver in Blind River

On Saturday at approximately 8:00 p.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint regarding a possibly impaired driver traveling west on Causley Street through the Town of Blind River.

At approximately 8:20 p.m., police located a suspicious pickup truck east of the town of Iron Bridge and conducted a traffic stop. During the conversation with the driver, the police came to the conclusion that he had been drinking alcohol, and he was detained. Then the driver was taken to the Salon department for further examination.

As a result, Annara Jarratt, a 43-year-old resident of Thessalon, was charged with:

  • Operation with a reduced concentration of alcohol in the blood (80 plus)
  • Action in violation – alcohol

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on December 5, 2024.

The pickup was towed and impounded for seven days, and the driver’s license was administratively suspended for 90 days.

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

This is the 46th driving fine issued by the East Algoma OPP this year.
