DANVILLE. A Chicago man was sentenced Monday to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Malik Brown, 25, was convicted of leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen car.

Rossville Police advised Danville Police on Dec. 7 that they were in pursuit of a vehicle with two stolen license plates headed south on Danville.

Several Danville officers joined the pursuit, with the suspect vehicle going about 85 mph on Vermilion Street with multiple stop signs.

The vehicle eventually traveled through the rear yard of the home, where it struck the deck and retaining wall before coming to rest.

The driver, later identified as Brown, and the front seat passenger fled the vehicle and began a chase with police. Both were detained.

The car was confirmed stolen. Later, the passenger was charged and his case is under consideration.

Brown was also sentenced to one year of mandatory supervised release after he is released from prison.
