Incident involving Jason Kelce and college football fan under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police

The altercation between Kelsey and an unidentified fan occurred just prior to the Ohio State-Penn State football game on Saturday, November 2nd.

Pennsylvania State University police are investigating the Nov. 2 incident Jason Kelce and an unknown college football fan at the school, PEOPLE can confirm.

On Monday, Nov. 4, Penn State confirmed that University Police and Public Safety are looking into the moment when the former NFL star, 36, smashed the phone about the biker who seemed to be calling Kelsey’s brother Travis homophobic insult.

The university did not say whether Jason, a football fan, was being investigated or how the incident happened.

PEOPLE has reached out to reps for Jason and ESPN.

Jason, who was on campus for an ESPN appearance College GameDay during the Penn State vs. Ohio State game, can be seen in several videos posted on social media surrounded by fans as he makes his way inside the stadium with a case of beer.

In the current viral video shared X (formerly Twitter)a football fan is seen walking up to Jason and asking, “Hey Kelsey. How do you feel about your brother dating the hell Taylor Swift?” the man asked, using a profanity, referring to Travis, 35, who has been dating Swift, 34, since 2023.

Seconds later, Jason spun around, grabbed the man’s phone from his hands, and smashed it to the ground. The NFL graduate then stood in front of the man and said, “Now who the hell?” as other people seemed to interfere.

The owner of the phone, who was wearing a Penn State hoodie at the time of the incident, could be seen walking closer behind him and appeared to be recording Jason before the altercation took place.

“Looked like a Pennsylvania student punched Kelsey in the face for no reason,” wrote the first user X who posted the clip. “Wild Scene in State College.”

Footage posted by another user on X, apparently taken immediately after the phone was smashed, shows a Penn State fan walking through the crowd in search of his phone. At one point, he allegedly told Jason, “Give me my phone, bro.”
