St. Clair Shores man charged after allegedly trying to run over Harris campaign workers – The Oakland Press

A 55-year-old St. Clair Shores man has been charged in connection with an incident outside the VFW Bruce Post on Jefferson Avenue where campaign materials were distributed.

On Oct. 12, Jason Lynch LaFond allegedly went to a tent in the VFW parking lot looking for campaign materials for presidential candidate Donald Trump. A volunteer manning the tent explained that it was the Harris/Walz presidential campaign tent that day.

Lafond allegedly yelled derogatory insults, including sexual orientation. He also said that when Trump wins, he will “destroy” people like them. Lafon returned to his car and sped toward the volunteers, who had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.

Lafon fled the scene.

The St. Clair Shores Police Department has identified the man after an extensive investigation.

The Macomb County District Attorney’s Office charged Lafond with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, a four-year felony, and three counts of ethnic intimidation, a two-year felony.
