The NBA has reopened an investigation into Los Angeles Lakers center Jackson Hayes regarding his 2021 domestic violence arrest, ESPN reported. Dave McMenamin.

“We obviously know the investigation has been reopened and we will cooperate fully,” Lakers head coach JJ Redick told reporters on Sunday. “But other than that, I’m not going to comment any further on that.”

on saturday TMZ released surveillance footage of the incident involving Hayes and his then-girlfriend, Sofia Jamora. At one point in the video, Hayes is seen pulling Jamora out of the door as she tells him to stop and asks him to let her go. At another point, the footage shows him pushing her and spitting in her direction.

“I’m not going to let you hit me anymore,” Jamora is heard telling him at one point. “What do I look like for a punching bag?”

In 2022, Hayes, who was caught on body camera footage, resisting arrest after police were called for domestic violence, announced that there was no competition under the articles of wrongful deprivation of liberty and resisting an officer. He was sentenced to a year of weekly domestic violence classes, three years probation and 450 hours of community service.

He was initially charged with 12 misdemeanors — three counts of inflicting bodily harm on the wife and three counts of vandalism; two household battery counts; and one count each of battery on an officer, unlawful imprisonment, aggravated trespass and resisting arrest.

Hayes told his captors that he and Jamora had gotten into an argument and that she had been throwing things at him.

The NBA did not discipline him after its own investigation into the matter.

On Tuesday Jamora sued against Hayes and arrested Los Angeles Police Officer Robert T. Tamate, alleging that Tamate had “previously met with Hayes’ attorneys and received monetary compensation from Hayes for unknown reasons.”

“We understand that the NBA has a zero-tolerance policy regarding domestic violence, and as such the victim welcomes any further investigation into Hayes’ actions and will cooperate with that investigation,” spokesman Jamora McMenamin said.
