Schneider Electric is investigating a security ‘incident’ following claims by hackers

The power management technology vendor confirmed that the developer platform was affected by “unauthorized access.”


On Monday, Schneider Electric confirmed that the developer platform it uses was affected by a “cyber security incident” that is currently being investigated.

According to BleepingComputer reportduring a conversation with the media, the attacker said that he had stolen data from Schneider Electric in connection with the compromise of the Jira server managed by the company.

Schneider Electric told CRN on Monday that it is “investigating a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to one of our internal project tracking platforms.”

The platform is housed in an “isolated” environment, according to a statement from Schneider Electric, a major technology provider in segments such as power management and industrial automation.

“Our global incident response team was immediately mobilized to respond to the incident,” the company said in a statement, adding that “Schneider Electric products and services remain unaffected.”

The statement did not specify when the incident is believed to have occurred, nor did it provide additional information about the impact.

The threat actor who claimed to have compromised Schneider Electric’s developer platform also threatened to leak the stolen data online, BleepingComputer reports.

The incident followed a January ransomware attack that affect The Schneider Electric Sustainability Business unit affected systems, including the Resource Advisor service.

Earlier, in mid-2023, the cybercriminal group Clop foster Schneider Electric is among the alleged victims of large-scale attacks using the Progress MOVEit file transfer software.
